International course ‘’South Caucasus in a Wider Black Sea Regional Security Context’’

On December 6, 2021 an international course "South Caucasus in Wider Black Sea Regional Security Context" was opened at the Defense Institution Building School.

The course will cover security issues in the South Caucasus and Wider Black Sea region, such as regional power balances, conflicts, the role and importance of domestic and external actors in geopolitics, NATO and EU strategic goals, hybrid threats, energy and economic security. Issues concerning the countries' identities, cultures, and religions.

The Defense Institution Building School is offering this course to an international audience for the second time. In 2021, the course includes a range number of invited international speakers, including experts from the Royal United Service Institute (RUSI) and the Clingendael - the Netherlands Institute of International Relations, in contrast to previous years.

DIB school received special assistance in developing the course from the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Georgia, Dr. Bob Hamilton, US Advisor to Georgia's Minister of Defense, and representatives of the NATO-Georgia Essential Package core group.

The course will be led by leading Georgian and international experts and representatives of the diplomatic corps in this field.

Representatives of the defense and security sectors of Georgia, France, Poland, Ukraine, Turkey and Bulgaria are taking part in the course.
