Participants of the "Defense and Security Senior Program" of the Defence Institution Building School visited the Republic of Romania within the framework of the "International and Regional Security" module. As part of the study tour, the study group was in Bucharest and Constanta.
The study group had official meetings at the Romanian Carol I National Defense University, the Romanian Military Naval Academy, and the Civil Seaport Administration of Constanța. The training group was hosted by Brigadier General Eugen MAVRIŞ (rector of the Romanian National Defense University), Rear Admiral (LH) Toma Alecu (rector of the Romanian Naval Academy), and other defense and civil sector officials.
The purpose of the study tour was to increase the participant's knowledge of the program regarding the security context of the Wider Black Sea countries. During the study tour, the participants discussed the position of the Republic of Romania on regional threats and challenges, Romania's role in NATO's Black Sea security issues, the tasks and functions of Romania's higher military training institutions, the possibilities of Romania's civil-maritime infrastructure, and the ways and challenges of Romania-Georgia cooperation. In the framework of the tour, the study group additionally visited the building of the Parliament of the Republic of Romania, a military ship, the infrastructure of educational institutions, and the cultural sights of Romania.
The students of the program also visited the Embassy of Georgia in the Republic of Romania in Bucharest, where they were hosted by the Ambassador of Georgia, Tamar Beruchashvili. A bilateral dialogue on various issues of Georgia-Romania cooperation was held in the embassy.
The study visit was coordinated and organized by the representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Romania, the Military Attaché of Georgia (in the Republics of Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria, and Greece), and the Defense Institutional Building School.
